On my run, I came across a mother and baby black swan. You see these guys everywhere along the river. They're so funny, because they're used to being around people. They'll come right up to you if you have food.
I had such a great afternoon yesterday. Our office had a golf day. I was going to go to the golf course with them, but when I learned that I could just take the afternoon off, I decided that I deserved some time to myself. The office officially closed at one, so I had four extra hours of fun. One of my coworkers dropped me off in the city, and I walked to the gym from there. The temperature crawled up into the 70's. It was officially the best weather we've had this season. I took tons of pictures. I was dropped off a few blocks south of where I usually get off the bus, so I had some new scenery. I found a cute hostel I've never seen before. RSPCA love (it says "for all creatures great and small ") Back on my usual route over the Torrens. I always love seeing the little paddle boats on the river. There are also people practicing for rowing. Once I got to the gym, I did a very intense full-body workout. I used machines, free weights, and the bosu ball. That thing is hard! I tried to do push ups on the ball, and I could only do about five without feeling like my arms were going to die. I wanted to do some cardio after I finished with that. I could have gone on the treadmill, but why would I do that when I have a gorgeous riverfront path across the street? Why would I want to stay inside on a day like this? I had to take advantage of this atypical Friday afternoon. I grabbed my iphone, along with my gym entry card and locker key (is that even allowed?) and headed outside. I did a lot of stopping and starting to get these pictures. On my run, I came across a mother and baby black swan. You see these guys everywhere along the river. They're so funny, because they're used to being around people. They'll come right up to you if you have food. The lovely Adelaide Convention Centre (and mother and baby swan) The Intercontinental Hotel- arguably the nicest hotel in the city I don't see these guys as much as the swans. As you can see, though, they are used to people. This guy had no issue with me walking right up to him to get this picture. It's a pelican party! These kids were very amused (as was I) Keep left! Jolly's Boat House. I love the colorful paddle boats in the front. The Popeye- it takes you from one of the parks by the gym to the zoo. The path is just busting with wildlife. I almost stepped on this little guy. Pretty pillars under the zoo bridge. I turned around here and headed back to the gym. It really wasn't too long of a run. It's only about 2k all together. The most commonly sighted birds along the path I took so many pictures, so I had to do this in TWO parts! Stay tuned for part two.

Jen, great pictures! I was reading through your entire blog from the beginning and wondering if you can keep all your postings for good? In other words, can you keep them for years so that you can look back one day and see what your day-to-day life was like in Australia? That is so cool!
