Lazy Blogging Bug

11/14/2010

I think that I catch the lazy blogging bug on the weekends, specifically on Fridays and Saturdays. Perhaps you have heard of this illness?
Symptoms include distractability, inability to sit at a computer for long periods of time, a schedule full of things to do, a strong desire to go to bed at 8 pm on a Friday night and, most importantly, being stupidly lazy. All of these symptoms factored into my weekend.
Regardless, I still had the energy to help Al clean the apartment from top to bottom for the open inspection. I'm usually the one to clean up every weekend, and I was convinced that Al didn't have the ability to make anything look very clean. Yesterday, however, he cleaned almost everything. He did such a good job (and can never again use the excuse that he's a bad cleaner to get out of helping me in the future).
After making our apartment spotless, we had to get out for the open inspection. We drove over to Rundle Mall, which is an outdoor mall in the middle of the city. It's my favorite place in Adelaide to go shopping, because I feel cramped when I stay in an indoor mall for too long. Even with the rain yesterday, I loved being outside in the fresh air.

The annual Christmas Pageant (parade) was in the morning, so all of the Christmas decorations are now up.

There are random bronze pigs at one end of the mall. It's not something I'd expect to run into, but I love them regardless.

The yellow chalk on the ground is from the Christmas Pageant. The kids are given sidewalk chalk to decorate the streets before the start of the parade. It's so cute.

The Pageant doesn't go through Rundle Mall, though. Perhaps some kid had leftover chalk.

That's one hungry pig.

Take note of the apple next to the pig. It's so clever.

While shopping, I picked up a few work shirts from Target and a few doggie toys and bird seed to donate to an animal shelter. I also helped Al pick out a few pairs of work pants. After shopping, we relaxed at home before meeting our friend Shona at the movies to see The Social Network. It only came to Australia a few weeks ago, but I still can't believe that we waited so long to see it. I LOVED it!

I basically ate a regular size popcorn and chocolate covered apricots by myself and later on ate a meat pie and drank two beers. I almost always eat healthy during the week, but then I sometimes overdo it on weekends. I need to work on that!

Today, I drove Al's car into the foothills so that I could practice hill starts. I did an awesome job, but when it came to parking in a garage outside of our grocery store, I didn't do so well. I had to reverse out to reposition the car, and then I panicked since I was going slow and there were cars waiting to get by. I stalled the car a few times and eventually had to pick a new spot that would be easier to get into. I was so scarred by the whole process that I actually shut the door and started walking away while the keys were still in the ignition. This never happened to me when I was driving an auto!

Guys, I swear that I'm not a bad driver!

Anyway, it's been a great weekend. I really don't want it to end. Go see The Social Network if you haven't already seen it!

Too funny! Your weekend is exactly what it should be...time to relax, have fun and pig out! Love the pix! The driving is amusing to me, since the first tiem I drove a manual into traffic, I almost threw up I was so nervous. I stalled the car at the intersection of Dundee and 41, and was ready to get out and leave it there. It does get easier! Soon you'll only want to drive a stick shift!
