Silly IT Band!

10/13/2010

Whoa, my leg and back are sore. The physio appointment went pretty well. My IT band is definitely strained, but it's not very bad. I have to lay off running at least until I see the therapist again next week. I can still do my other activites, such as the crosstrainer (translation: elliptical),biking and my sculpt classes.

I also need to replace these guys (below). I've worn Nike Shox for as long as I can possibly remember, but they are bad running shoes! My therapist told me that today, and I have heard that many times before. New shoes are on the agenda for this weekend. I will miss my friends, though.

They are good-looking shoes, aren't they?

These are my older Shox. I retired them, but I still keep them around and wear them occasionally.

It will be nice to get some better running shoes. Al and I are going to a store that examines your feet and makes sure that you pick out the right shoes for them. His feet cramp up a lot when he runs, so he also needs to find a good new pair.

Ugh...I also didn't think at all about what I should bring or wear to my appointment today. I'm sure my therapist knew that I was new to this, because I showed up in a dress! I swear, I didn't think about it at all. Obviously, he would have to press on my leg and move it around it different positions. He was very professional about it, though. He covered me up with a towel, and it didn't end up being a very big deal. I'll have to remember to bring my exercise pants next week.

Physical therapy is expensive for me, so I don't think I'll have more than two appointments. He actually asked me, however, if I would be interested in acupuncture on my hip. How cool is that? I don't know if I would actually get it, but I'm intrigued. Maybe I'll get a price first?

I felt very sore after my appointment, so I skipped the gym again. I wasn't in the mood for dinner, so I had breakfast instead. Don't you just want that for dinner sometimes?I have oatmeal every single morning for breakfast. That's been my chosen food for the past few years, and I NEVER get sick of it. I always micowave my oats (and eat them in the car while Al drives me to work), but I wanted to change it up tonight and try stovetop oats. I aways use oats and brown sugar, but I sometimes add a banana. These were my ingredients tonight. I also added a tiny touch of milk and a packet of Splenda. Then, I added lots of water.

Some of our pots and pans are hand-me-downs, so they are old and NOT non-stick. Observe the mess I have to clean up below.

It was creamy! As strange as it sounds, though, I think I like my microwave oats better. Am I crazy?

I thought I would add something fun on my Wednesday posts. Australia has some funny TV commercials, and I want to try sharing one once a week. This way, I can expose a little more of Australia's culture. I may be easily amused, but I'm sure that most of you will understand why I like this one. Happy Hump Day! And go dogs!
