Snapshots from Mexico-Part 4

Here's the last recap!

We were up very late the night of the wedding, so we didn't get up to much the day afterwards. In fact, with the rain pouring down so much of the day (Timon and Yana were so lucky that it didn't rain during their ceremony the night before!), we didn't leave our room until almost 3 pm. I ordered room service for lunch, and we watched a heck of a lot of TV.

We had one more nice dinner at our resort and some quiet drinks that night, and we headed to our next destination the following morning!

We spent the rest of our vacation at Dreams Tulum in Riviera Maya, which absolutely blew us away. About half of the guests went back home after Cancun. We were sad that we had to say goodbye to a bunch of people, including my brother's girlfriend Sheena. It was a bummer that more people couldn't stick around, because the rest of the Mexico trip pretty much consisted of sun, beach, pool, food, and boozing face.

Seriously, how awesome are these beds?

You better bet that I pulled these curtains loose the first night so that I felt like I was Scrooge from A Christmas Carol.

Past the bed, there were a few steps that led down to a sitting area. We had our own little patio that looked out onto a pretty courtyard that ran through the whole resort. We didn't get a beach view this time, but I would certainly take this room over the last one.

Our resort, unlike Cancun, was very isolated and far from everything else. We took a taxi one day to see the Mayan ruins, which was pretty reasonably priced for a group of us. We decided not to use a tour guide and to just walk around and look at the ruins. This was a smart decision on that particular day, because the sun and heat nearly wiped us out. We had a great time walking through, but it was less than an hour before we walked back to our taxi driver and asked him to take us back to our resort. We would have been there for hours with a guide!

Even though we didn't know what we were looking at a lot of time, the ruins were very interesting to see. I think the city gate was below.

I don't know what it was like when this was a real functioning city, but the iguanas run this place in this day and age. We found these guys everywhere, basking in the sun and enjoying all of the attention.

The ruins and iguanas spread all the way out to the sea, which was a beautiful sight.

We could have gone to the beach there, but we all agreed that we wanted to get back to our hotel sooner than later. I guess that's a problem when you stay at an all-inclusive resort; you need to get your money's worth of food and booze. That day, the cheeseburgers by the pool were calling my name.

That was the one the time that we left the resort. It was okay though, because we had plenty to do there. Our group had dinners together every night. We had our choice of restaurants (Italian, 2 Japanese places, Mexican, French, and seafood by the pool), and there was always fun entertainment that started during the day and went until about 2 am. I think there was a disco place that was open even later than that. It was easy for us to meet lots of great people.

This was our one attempt to light lanterns and release them into the wind over the ocean. The wind was so intense (and blowing the other way) that nobody could even get their lantern to light.

I would definitely come back and stay  here if I could. Even with all of the kids staying at the resort, it's still a fantastic get-away for adults.

Plus, it has a cute Mexican chapel!

I hope you enjoyed my recaps! I'm sorry that they took me so long to do.
